As the clock continued to dwindle down to just under 10 minutes in the 4th quarter of the AFC Championship game on Jan 21 New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took the field with his team down 10 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. His number one target, Rob Gronkowski, had been ruled out of the game with a concussion and he had to score twice against the best defense in the NFL.

This wasn’t an uncomfortable situation for the 18 year veteran as he methodically drove his team down the field before rifling a nine yard pass to the back of the endzone to bring the Pats within three with about eight minutes left. Brady’s work wasn’t done yet as the Patriots still trailed three as the clock hit four minutes remaining. Once again the man known as “Touchdown Tom” tossed his second touchdown of the fourth quarter to Danny Amendola and effectively put the Patriots ahead for the win, sending them to their third Super Bowl in four years.

Brady has been masterful his whole career and has put himself in the conversation as the greatest quarterback of all time. But when looking at the whole of his success it’s easy to see that there really isn’t a discussion, Brady is the best to ever do it.

He is top four in all major statistical categories for a quarterback all time, and is the leader in all major postseason categories with the most important being his five Super Bowl wins. Not to mention he also has four super bowl MVPs and two regular season MVPs .

While all the stats point to Brady being the best what sets him apart is his seemingly timeless sustainability. Brady has played at an elite level and has not wavered since he came into the league.  Now at 40 years old Brady continues to dominate the game as he lead the league this season in passing yards and finished top three in overall quarterback rating.

Brady is the gold standard in the NFL and will continue to be as he shows no signs of decline. The comeback victory over the Jaguars was just further proof that he is still the premier guy to have under center in the NFL.

So as Brady attempts to capture his sixth Super Bowl ring, and tie the Patriots as the franchise with the most Super Bowls wins, it’s important not to take for granted just how talented Brady truly is. He’s the Michael Jordan of football and continues to prove he’s the best with every victory. As a fan, all you can do is just sit back enjoy what he does on the football field. We might not see this greatness for a long time.
