Both softball and baseball teams clinched spots in the playoffs after wins Tuesday over the Judson Rockets.

Softball was tied up at three after the third inning but could not shutout the Rockets the next four innings. However, the girls posted three more runs to take home a 6-3 win.

The young squad battled all season with a 13-6 (8-5 in district) record and locked up the third spot in district play. The team looks to end a four-year streak of being eliminated in the first round as playoffs begin next week.

While softball took care of business at home, baseball defeated Judson 9-3 on the road. The win puts the team at 23-4 (10-1 in district) on the season and into the playoffs with three games remaining.

The team currently sits at first place in district play and can clinch the title with one more win. This would be baseball’s second consecutive district championship.

Though the playoffs are clinched for both teams, regular season games remain. Softball closes district play on the road Friday at New Braunfels. Baseball has the second leg of its two game series with Judson Friday at home while New Braunfels awaits to close district play next week. All games start at 7 p.m.
