Teachers nominated candidates and voted by ballot on Monday and Tuesday. Chef Lauren DeLoach was nominated at the school’s Teacher of the Year. DeLoach will now advance to compete for Comal ISD’s secondary Teacher of the Year.

Q: How did you feel about winning teacher of the year?

A: Super excited! I love teaching at Smithson Valley.

Q: What is your favorite part of teaching?

A: The students are a huge part of it.

Q: What are you all doing right now?

A: We are making food for the PTSA lunch for Monday and prepping for an upcoming teacher meal.
