Football blowout, tennis loses regionals, cross country wins district and more

Football demolished South San, 48-0, in a rare Thursday night Homecoming game. Five players scored touchdowns – and five others forced turnovers – in a dominant performance that saw the second-stringers enter the game at halftime.

The tennis season came to a close after they lost to Westlake 10-0 in the area finals. The team had a lot of close matches, but couldn’t do enough to beat the No. 5 team in Texas. After a long season that started during the summer the team is taking the week off to let their bodies heal up and get ready for the spring season.
Golf competed in a tournament at Starke Park on Oct. 29, with the varsity boys placing third. The varsity girls and junior varsity boys also competed at Starke Park a week earlier, with the girls winning second place and the boys winning third place.
Volleyball captured its 11th and 12th wins in a row this past week with wins over South San and Judson. With the win, they have secured their spot in the playoffs with hopes of getting first in district with an undefeated record. They will host East Central this Friday for their last home game of the season.
The girls cross country team claimed the district title once again, with seniors Amalie Mills and Sara Scott leading the way, taking first and second place in the girls division. After their big win, the girls will move on to regionals.
The boys varsity team placed third and will not be moving on to the regional meet as a team, but junior Gilbert Wurn and senior Garrison Mangan, their times only half a second apart, placed in the top 10 and will individually move on to regionals.
