Seniors relive freshman year before their graduation

Mackenzie Foley, Staff Writer

As the class of 2016 prepares to walk the stage, they flashback to freshman year to recollect their hopes and dreams they’d wished for themselves. The English department coordinated Friday, May 20 to send English classes to the library where they would solemnly grab stationary and a pen to write a thank you letter to past or present teachers who have made an impact in their lives and school careers.

“You should take the time to thank the people who took the time to help you.” Senior Mackenzie Campbell said.

Seniors Kalyn Mizelle and Kaylee Palumbo laugh together while looking at the letters they wrote to themselves as freshman.

Teachers have the ability to influence a student’s life daily. This project allowed seniors to see who has helped them succeed.

“I’m writing to my 5th grade teacher because she always told me to be myself.” Senior Danielle Kutner said.

Once finished writing, the seniors place their thank you letters in the giant mail box, and not only are they giving back just a few words of kindness, but they also receive the letters they wrote to themselves as freshman. The letters have been in storage for three years, waiting to be opened.

Looking through the alphabetized boxes, each senior grasps their letter and follow each other in a line, grabbing Cheetos and Capri Suns, provided by the PTA, mimicking elementary school once more. As they sit, snack and read, giggles are filled throughout the entire library as they reminisce about the start of high school, and forget for just a minute that high school is about to end.
