Cross country continues winning ways

Varsity and junior varsity cross country teams continued their dominance at the Unicorn Invitational Saturday at the Comal County Fairgrounds.

Cross country competed at the New Braunfels Invitational Sept. 3. Both the varsity boys’ and girls’ teams finished in first overall, as well as the junior varsity boys’ team, while the junior varsity girls came in a close second.

Varsity girls took the top three spots with sophomore Cambria Clark in first, senior Marisa Ibarra in second and senior Mackenzie Jensen in third. Senior Jianni McDole finished thirteenth and sophomore Danielle Keranen finished fifteenth, helping the team keep its lead over New Braunfels.

The varsity boys’ team was led by Chase Bracher, who finished third. The team had three other runners finish in the top 10. Sophomores Clayton Wilkerson, Andres Engle and Jackson Davis rounded out the teams top 10 finishers by placing fourth, sixth and tenth, respectively. Junior Tyler Keranen finished thirteenth to secure the lead for the team overall.

The JV boys’ team was led by a second place finish from senior Jacob Pickron and a third place finish from freshman Kirk Zuber. The JV girls’ team finished second overall led by a fifth place finish from sophomore Sydney Jensen.
