Football collides with the Boerne Champion Chargers in a Gold out game today at 7 p.m. at Ranger Stadium in the first District 13-5A game of the year.
Champion rolls into district with a 3-0 record after wins against Harlan, Laredo Alexander and Medina Valley.
Boerne Champion is Ranked 327 in Max Preps Texas rating and 43 in Texas Division 5A-1 while Smithson Valley is ranked 18 in Texas Division 5A-1 and ranked 139 in Max Preps Texas rating.
At last week’s game against Madison, the leading passer for the Rangers was senior quarterback Cade Spradling. He completed 16/29 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
The leading rusher for the Rangers was senior running back Brad Sowersby who has 108 yards on 10 carries and four touchdowns, and the leading receiver was senior Brody Day who had three receptions for 46 yards.
Also senior safety Diego Davila had his second punt return this season, one against Roosevelt and a 43 yard punt return against Madison.
On defense the Rangers dominated the maverick offense. There were a total of two interceptions, three forced fumbles and recoveries, 18 tackles for losses and 14 sacks.
