Volleyball
Volleyball beat Wagner this past Friday, by a score of 3-0, advancing their record to (19-12) and district record to (3-2). Freshman Brooke Oney led the team in kills with 9 while tying first with junior Layla Alvarez in kill percentage with 60%. Oney also led the team in digs with 11. Juniors Sophia Fuentes and Dani Mendez led the team in assists with 11. Fuentes also led the team with aces with 7 and a ace percentage of 63.6%.
The team also beat Tivy last night, by a score of 3-0 led by Senior Amanda Teran’s 14 kills which averaged to 4.7 kills per set. Juniors’ Jacey Owen led the team in blocks with 5 and Berkeley Bates led the team in digs with 21. Senior Marlowe Berry led the team in assists with 17 led closely by Fuentes with 16.
Their record improves to (20-12) and their district record increases to (5-2).
Football
Football beat the Boerne-Champion Chargers with a score of 42-10. The team takes on the Pieper Warriors on Friday, September 27th.
In the Game, QB Cade Spradling (12) threw ten out of thirteen completed passes for a total of 170 yards, Spradling also threw for 3 TDs.
RB Daniel De Hoyos (12) Ran for 103 yards, averaging 7.36 yards per carry. De Hoyos scored one rushing TD, while Spradling also scored two rushing TDs.
WR Brody Day (12) caught five passes for 127 yards, averaging 25.40 yards per catch. Day caught one TD pass and WR Quentin Sampson (11) also scored one receiving TD.
Football ran for a total of 262 yards, threw for 185, and scored 42 points in the game. The Chargers ran for a total of 42 yards, threw for 186, and scored 10 points throughout the game.
They will look to play on the road against Pieper this Friday at 7 p.m.
Water Polo
Girls and boys Water Polo both took tough losses against Canyon last night. The girls score was 9-21, while the boys score was 4-26.
Tennis
Tennis had a huge district win, beating Tivy 10-5. They now have a district record of 4-3 and are 9-4 overall.
“I believe the win yesterday has put the Rangers in a good position to potentially advance to post-district play,” Coach Lalonde said. “We shall see how things finish out in the district overall, but things look very encouraging for the Rangers varsity tennis team.”
They team has one more district game against Veterans Memorial next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Cross Country
The girls cross country team, ran in the Gold Girls 5K at the McNeil Invitational, taking first place overall yet again. Freshman Brady Solansky came in 29th place with a time of 18:50:90.
Junior Lilly Koenig followed in 36th place, then freshman Skyler Fonesca in 42nd place, then senior Mia Perez in 46th.
The boys team came in fourth place overall, leading with Junior Zebene Martine in second place with a time of 16:57:00. Junior Luke Smith followed behind in fourth place, with a time of 17:05:10.
The teams’ next meet will be at the Jesuit XC Classic this upcoming Friday.
