Freshman Brady Solansky won second place at her first cross country meet behind Boerne Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman who went to the Olympic Trials this summer.
“It definitely feels crazy to be running against someone who went to the Olympic Trials, but I just try to tune all of that out and focus on my own path,” Solansky said. “I really do believe that I’m just at the beginning, so who knows where I’ll be when I gain the right racing and training experience.”
Cross country coach Trenton Hall had very positive things to say about Solansky.
“I knew she had a lot of talent from the very beginning,” Hall said, “and she’s been really committed and really consistent as far as showing up and putting in the work.”
Solansky started running in seventh grade and has been setting records since the very beginning. She set multiple records for Smithson Valley Middle School last year, including the two mile and 1.7 mile runs.
Solansky remembers her middle school coach, Eric Clark, very fondly.
“I will always remember the advice and motivation he shared with me,” Solansky said. “He was- and still is- immensely supportive to me and is constantly hyping me up,”
Even though she is a big fan of Coach Clark, she has positive things to say about Coach Hall as well.
“In general, he has been incredibly helpful in the highschool transition,” Solansky said.
In addition, Hall is very excited for this upcoming season as well.
“I think that’s one of our strengths this year- is that the team is really coming together and working towards the same goals,” Hall said.
Hall confirmed how talented Solansky is.
“She’s been competing at a high level for a few years now, and she just comes in with that experience from some of the national meets that she’s done,” he said.
Solansky is very confident about going forward in this cross country season, especially with the next meet coming up on Friday.
“I’m really excited and ready for a great cross country season with my team,” Solansky said.
