Football shoots down Rockets

Football shot down the Judson Rockets Friday night, resulting in a 44-14 victory on senior night at Ranger Stadium on Oct. 28.

The Rockets scored first in the opening minutes of the game, but the team fired back with a 33 yard field goal by sophomore Mason Reid and a pick six from senior defensive end Kolt Fullen, to make the score 10-7 to end the first quarter.

Senior quarterback Josh Adkins went on to throw and run for one touchdown each before halftime to make the score 23-7.

The team had the first strike in the second half, with a 21 yard passing touchdown from Adkins to junior receiver Edwin Martinez.

Judson made their last score of the night with 3 seconds remaining in the third quarter, to make the score 37-14.

Adkins scored the last points of the game with a 22 yard rushing touchdown to end the beat down 44-14.

On top of his career night, Adkins had his name all over the stats, leading the team with 224 yards passing and two touchdowns. Adkins racked up 119 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, resulting in a new SV record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

The defense closed out the game with multiple sacks, pressures and interceptions on Judson’s junior quarterback, Julon Williams.

The team finishes its regular season at New Braunfels on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
