Boys basketball aims to build off an impressive win against East Central last Friday when it takes on the Wagner Thunderbirds at home.

The win on Friday put the group at 8-14 overall and was the first district win of the season.

The leading scorers for the team were once again headlined by senior Alex Peavy and junior Sean Bolds who both scored 20 and 14 points, respectively.

As a team, the focus now shifts towards the Thunderbirds, who are currently 23-5 on the season and are riding a seven-game win streak coming into tonight’s game. The T-Birds are ranked 19th overall in the nation and 5th in the state, according to MaxPreps.

The Rangers will also be looking for Peavy and Bolds to provide a defensive spark during tonight’s matchup. Peavy leads the team in total blocks this season with 18, while Bolds is second on the team in total steals with 24. This kind of defensive presence will be necessary against a Wagner team that is averaging 75.8 points per game this season.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. tonight on the Rangers’ home floor.
