Opening sometime in December, the counseling staff will be offering a mindfulness room during F.I.T. sessions.  The room is located in room B100, and will be called The Valley Unplugged.

“We wanted to give students the opportunity to just break away from their normal day,” counselor Kristen Guerra said.

Mindfulness messages will be available for students through the University of California Los Angeles.  Counselors wanted to implement mindful practices, due to the beneficial results shown by research studies. The room will be supervised throughout sessions by at least two staff members.

“We wanted to give students the opportunity to have a quiet space to decompress from their busy schedules,” Guerra said.
