The varsity and junior varsity dance teams will host a donation drive for Goodwill on Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The drive will accept clothing, small appliances, housewares and jewelry. Donations can be dropped off at the school.

“It is a fundraiser,” Booster club fundraising chair Heather French said. “The more trucks and bins we fill, the more Goodwill pays us for bringing them donation items.”

The booster club is working with Goodwill to clean peoples’ homes and make shopping accessible.

“We contacted Goodwill, set a date, filled out all the paperwork, got the fundraiser approved, now we are advertising and cleaning closets,” French said. “It helps the community by helping people declutter their homes, and also by helping Goodwill on their mission to provide jobs and affordable shopping for the community.”

The drive also helps raise funds for dance and teach the dancers about responsibility and generosity.

“It matters for the Goodwill charity and also to help the dancers raise funds for their program,” French said. “It’s important for them to work because it teaches them to work for what they get and also shows how generous the community can be.”
