The SV Braingers traveled to Austin Tuesday to compete at the state UIL Academic meet. Sophomore Emma Sipple placed second in news writing and senior Erin Herndon for placing fifth in headline writing. Overall, the journalism team placed third. Senior speller Alyssa Seibel took eighth in spelling and vocabulary. Also competing were senior Colt Hermesch in science, senior Keagan Miller in feature writing, and junior Morghan Armenta in Lincoln-Douglas debate. State alternate computer science included Ethan Howell, Matteusz Garstecki, Colt Hermesch and Branden Klar. Senior Christopher Nelson-Ferguson advanced to finals in prose interpretation and is insured of at least a sixth place finish. Good luck, Chris!
