A new school organization, Writers Guild, held its first meeting on Aug. 30 after school in sponsor Holly Leach’s room with nearly 45 in attendance.

The idea of the club was brought up by senior and president of the organization Julia Kidd late last school year.

“I felt that we needed more creative clubs at our high school for kids to enjoy instead of just beefing up their college resumes,” Kidd said. “I thought it would be really fun for authors to be able to share their work, get feedback and get published during high school.”

The club currently has 52 members and is “still growing,” Kidd said.

Those members have diverse backgrounds in school – from band members, to Student Council members, and even to students partaking in sports and drill team – and are also fond of writing,

All meetings will be held in either Leach’s room B103 or the library after school every Tuesday.
