As the new school year gets to a start, the theater program is already ramping up for the musical this year, Bye Bye Birdie. With auditions next week, students across the campus are preparing their pieces for tryouts.

Those auditioning will need a Broadway musical song that is at least 16 bars or 30 seconds. Aspiring actors need not sing well to try out. The tryouts last for four days, Sept. 13 – 16. The first day consists of students performing their Broadway song to the directors then on the second day students must come ready to move in comfortable clothes as they will be learning a dance number with the other auditioners. They also will be given a piece out of the script to take home and practice before performing it the next day. And after day three comes to a close, students may be asked to come back on Friday for call backs.

The theatre department is performing the musical Dec. 8-10. Dates for the fall show, Twentieth Century, will be on Oct. 20-22.
