Remodeled bathrooms and re-painted hallways greeted students and staff for the new school year Aug. 20. The school enrolled nearly 2,100 students for 2024-2025.
Along with renovated B-wing and A-wing restrooms, new student bathrooms are now located near senior dining while old student bathrooms in C-wing are for staff only now.
“It’s always fun to get to see our new kids and see who you’re getting and say hi to the ones who you haven’t seen for three months,” Student Council teacher Christopher Helkey said. “It was nice to come back to a school that looked much cleaner than it did before because of the construction, and now I’m waiting for them to do it to all of the classrooms.”
Helkey isn’t the only one excited for the 2024-2025 school year.
“The first day back was okay, I’m happy with my classes and am excited to see where this year leads,” junior Zach Norton said.
The district set up a long term goal, consisting of a 5-year College, Career, Military Readiness strategic plan. The purpose of the CCMR Department is to create valuable and challenging opportunities that provide and inspire students to gain the skills and talents necessary for success after high school.
The plan shows that 48% of 11th grade students should score at or above criterion on the 2028 SAT school day. It also shows that 79% of the Class of 2027 will demonstrate College, Career, Military Readiness by 2028.
“The first day for me had a lot of mixed feelings,” Richard Herr, Algebra I Teacher and Assistant Girls’ Basketball and Track Coach said. “As all teachers, I was super excited and interested to see what type of kids and classes I was going to get. How would the kids behave, how would they buy into what we were going to do this year, etc…”
