Football will host the Brennan Bears at 7 p.m. at Ranger Stadium Friday after a shutout victory over the Roosevelt Roughriders. The Rangers aim to continue their winning streak to 2-0.
The Bears lost to Reagan, 31-9, this past week.
However, the defense will need to monitor a few key players. Quarterback Cayden Glass completed 9 out of 18 passes, scored one touchdown and threw for 147 passing yards.
Micai Thompson was the Bears’ top rusher, running for 66 rushing yards, with an average of 3.9 yards per rush, and scoring one touchdown. The Bears’ top receiver was Melvin Khan, who caught 5 passes for 86 yards with an average of 17 yards per catch.
The Rangers look to continue the momentum from the Roosevelt game. According to Coach Glenn Hill, “efficient” perfectly sums up that previous game; the performance showcased the offense’s capabilities, averaging six yards per carry and an offensive line that didn’t allow any sacks.
The Rangers’ defense exceeded expectations, scoring a defensive touchdown that “put Roosevelt on their heels and stopped them from playing how they wanted to,” Coach Larry Hill said on the weekly Coaches Show.
Kick returner Diego Davila began the game with a kick return to the 40-yard line and later in the game returned a punt for a touchdown.
