Wrestling beats Akins high school 51-21 on January 30th

In a dominating victory full of pins, takedowns, and overall pure strength, the wrestling team dismantled Akins High School on January 30th.

The girls wrestling squad had hard fought wins for sophomore Isabella Ruiz who pinned her opponent late in the second period of play leading to a ten point team score. Lindsay Rittiman and Kendall McGarity beat their opponents in the early seconds of their matches.

The boys wrestling squad lead by senior wrestler Carson Palumbo won 51-21 over Akins.

“I feel the team played great as a whole and I look forward to the regional match in the next week.” Palumbo said.

Palumbo, dominated his opponent and pinned him within the first 30 seconds, leading to a 10 point team score. Carson Padilla won his match early in the second period of play with an impressive takedown, scoring six points for the team.

“I feel our team has an opportunity to do very well come the district meet, and I look forward to watching our wrestlers continue to strive against upcoming competition.”, said head coach Kevin Casula.

The varsity wrestling team looks to continue its dominating season heading into the UIL district meet at Reagan high school on February 10th at 7:30 p.m.
