As cornerback Deion Staley leaped into the air and intercepted the ball from the Brennan with five seconds remaining in the game, a feeling of joy and pride filled Ranger Stadium as they closed out Bears to capture a 35-28 victory.

Smithson Valley snapped Brennan’s 34 game regular season win streak in what was a great win for the Rangers.

Quarterback Josh Adkins had a standout performance throwing for 328 yards and three touchdowns including the go-ahead 54 yard touchdown pass to fullback Lane Raulston in the final minute of the game. The defense and special teams made big plays all night which included a blocked returned for a touchdown by wide receiver Derek Housler and ultimately the game clinching interception by cornerback Deion Staley to seal the game.

Smithson Valley did everything necessary to get the win whether it was critical turnovers caused by the defense or great execution by the offense to put the ball in the endzone. The Rangers now gear up to play East Central Hornets this Friday at East Central. Smithson Valley will be entering the game 2-0 while the hornets are entering with an 0-2 record. No team should be overlooked and the Rangers should use this game to keep building momentum on what has been a great start to the season.
