Student led donation project runs until Feb. 14

Soles for Souls is a student led project to assist with disaster relief, fighting poverty in developing nations, and helping the environment by keeping old shoes out of landfills.

On Feb. 4, the student led service project, Soles for Souls Shoe Drive began taking donations.

“The most common type of shoe is a gently used shoe and those are the shoes that are sent to third world countries,” the student leading the project junior Abigail Reddon said.

The purpose of this cause is to assist with disaster relief, fight poverty in developing nations and help the environment by keeping old shoes out of landfills. Donation boxes are located all around the school. Here is the complete list of all the donation box locations:

  • Library
  • All Athletic Locker Rooms
  • JROTC
  • AG Barn
  • Band Hall
  • Theatre Room
  • Choir Room
  • Dance Room
  • Holly Leach’s Room (Pre-AP English II, AP English IV, and Humans of SV club) – Room B103
  • L. Seller’s Room (Pre-AP Chemistry and AP Environmental Science) – Room A202
  • Chris Helkey’s Room (Pre-AP Spanish II and Student Council) – Room A102
  • Lucy Capt’s Room (AP United States History and National Honor Society) – Room B218

“You can donate any shoe in any condition, even singles,” Reddon said.

Donations will be accepted until Feb. 14.
