In response to a family in the Comal community losing their belongings in a fire, the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy will be hosting a gift card drive to replace items and clothing for the family’s sophomore child.

“We are asking for gift cards in any amount for H.E.B, Walmart, Target or Amazon or Visa gift cards,” Spanish teacher and student council sponsor Christopher Helkey said in an email to faculty and parents.

The family affected by the fire has three children: two younger ones attending Rahe Bulverde Elementary School and a sophomore at Smithson Valley.

“RBES has done a clothing drive for the smaller children,” Helkey said. “We would like to collect gift cards that they can use to replace items and/or buy clothing for the older child.”

Gift cards can be dropped off in Helkey’s, Aubrie Herring’s or Shanika Randles’s classroom. These room numbers are A102, C106 and D102 respectively. The last day to donate is May 21.
