Track stands out at state

Stormy conditions didn’t slow the varsity track participants who competed in the state championship meet Saturday in Austin.

Pole vaulter Colleen Clancy and 800M  runner Tristen McNeal headlined for the team, taking home silver medals in their respective events, with MNneal setting a new school record. Ben Zeug came home with a seventh place finish in the shot put. Olivia Pappas placed sixth in the 300m hurdles and eighth in the 100m hurdles, setting a new school record in the final race of her high school career.

Reagan Bachman came away with a sixth place finish in the 800m and was also part of the 4X400M team that finished eighth. Megan Mann came away with a ninth place finish in the 100m hurdles, and Kylie Welch finished ninth in the 1600m.

With a number of school records set throughout the season by the members of the team who are underclassmen, such as junior Colleen Clancy setting a new pole vault record and Ben Zeug setting a new shot put record, they now look to bring that same dominance as to next year’s season.
