Football

Football beat Warren on Friday, 32-13, behind 100-yard rushing performances from Malachi Lane and Travis McCracken. Gavin Woods led the defense with 11 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 tackles for loss, and Brayden Bafidis racked up several long kick returns for the special teams unit, including a punt-return touchdown. They’ll look to extend their winning streak on Friday against Madison.

Volleyball

Volleyball took first at the Texas Showdown Volleyball Tournament, winning all nine games without losing a single set. Two seniors also reached major milestones during the tournament: Maddie Dennis recorded her 1500th career assist and Jaci Mesa achieved her 1000th career dig. Following her tournament performance, the Express-News named Rebekah Williams their Player of the Week. The team now sits at a 21-3 record.

Tennis

Tennis beat South San 10-0, after South San defaulted. The Rangers will play at Bourne Champion on Thursday at 4:00 p.m., a tough out of district team that will prove to be a competitive opponent.  The team is 4-0 in districts and 8-2 out of district.

Cross Country

Cross country competed at the Westlake Chaparral XC Invitational on Friday. Sisters Mia and Sophia Perez both placed in the girls top 10: Mia placed fourth with a 18:51.60 5k and a 6:04/M pace while Sophia placed seventh with a 19:19.90 5k and a 6:13/M pace. Among boys, Schaefer Robertson placed fifth with a 16:10.70 5k with a 5:12/M pace. Their next meet is on the Sept. 11 at Cedar Park.
